Mumbai's contract painter recounts his happiest day, makes everyone count their blessings

For this weekend's dose of inspiration, we have the heartwarming story of a contract painter from Mumbai who's currently winning the internet. After Humans of Bombay, the Facebook page fashioned after Humans of New York posted his image, they also shared with us his most precious memory.

He talks about how his love for painting as a child inspired his career choice, and how he feels like he's adding 'colour' to someone's life by doing what he does. And if that doesn't make you melt in a pool of aaaw, what he said next about being the 'highlight' of his day, certainly will.

Here's the post:

"I've loved painting since I was a little boy and adding color to people's lives whichever way I can, gives me immense happiness. A few years ago after we finished painting a bungalow the owner took us to a restaurant to celebrate. This had never happened to any of us before, usually we don't even meet the owner, the contractor pays us off and that's it.

I was mesmerised because it was the first time I had even seen a fancy restaurant from the inside and given respect. All my life I had eaten only tea and bread, but that day we ate paneer and dal. That has been the highlight of my life, and I pray for that man every single day."

The post has garnered a lot of interest in a short period of time, and with over 1,200 shares is now legit viral. This is truly one of those few times when trolls stay away and the comments section has nothing but beautiful, inspirational stories. You can check out the post here.

Still cribbing about last night's dinner not being up to mark? Or how lunch did not match your sky-high standards today? About to throw out food that 'couldn't eat because there was too much of it?'

A little more gratitude, a little less cribbing is our new #LifeGoal.
