Five times when school books taught us bizarre things
We rely upon books to learn most of the things in life. And school books are a source of knowledge which we have been studying since kindergarten.
Books are supposed to be teaching moral values, but trust us on this that even books are capable of imparting wrong things. Books sometimes have absurd stuff to teach because of which we are left wondering, how could the students ever have a better perspective about things?
Recently, we came across such books and found a few examples of what shouldn’t be taught to anyone. Here are the examples:
1.Mnemonic for Rape
We have learnt a lot of things through mnemonic to make it easy. This particular author of electronic textbook took it to another level. For remembering the numbers from one to nine through color he used this mnemonic, “Blasphemous Boys Rape Our Young Girls but Violet Gives Willingly.” This must have shaken you, guess what students are learning in schools.
2. Meat eaters equals to sex offenders
India has a large population of vegetarian people, so this book named ‘New Healthway’ for middle school promoted the meat eater in a total astounding way. It has mentioned that carnivores tend to “easily cheat, tell lies, forget promises, they are dishonest and tell bad words, steal, fight and turn to violence and commit sex crimes.’

In an era where society needs to move towards progression, books are teaching how dowry could be beneficial. There is actually a list of advantages that describe the advantages of dowry. Are they actually justifying ‘Dowry,’ one of the problematic issues?
4. Ideal shape of females

A book titled "Health and Physical Education" which is taught in schools affiliated to CBSE explains the ideal shape of female and male, where they ignorantly mention that 36-24-36 is the ideal figure. They further go on to say that it is the reason why beauty pageants want women to have the same size.
5. How to kill a cat

An environmental science book, titled Our Green World for class 4, teaches the students the importance of breathing and they explained it through a graphical image of suffocating a cat.
