Deepika Padukone launched her foundation, Live Love Laugh, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day on October 10. Padukone elaborated on her plans to make a difference in the society through Live Love Laugh Foundation.

"With a lot of focus, commitment and education, we have managed to put the organisation together much before we thought we could. We had plans to launch it next year, but what better than launching it on World Mental Health Day," she said.

The Bollywood actress, who has been a part of memorable films like Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela, to name a few, has been vocal about her own struggle with depression.

"The idea is to interact with people who can really make a difference. People from sports, entertainment, and politics and, of course, doctors will make a difference. Mental health as an issue needs to be addressed very seriously in our country and I think that's what our foundation is all about," Padukone said.

A lot of thinking went into picking the right name for the NGO, the actress explained.

"We have chosen the name Live Love Laugh because it is something I live by," Padukone said. "I think in the current scenario we live a very stressful life but we need to realise that it is very important to live, love, laugh and have a great life because that is what life is all about. I think it is very important for people suffering from depression to realise that there is hope and I think we all can spread awareness."

The actress said she would only sign on for a film dealing with mental health if the film is made with sensitivity.

"If dealt with correctly, I would love to be a part of a film dealing with mental health. In Hollywood, many films are made on this subject, so why not?"

When asked about the kind of support Deepika got from her close friend Shah Rukh Khan and alleged boyfriend Ranveer Singh, the actress said,

"Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh have passed on their love and blessings to me for the foundation."
