Oldest Alabama prisoner aged 83 executed after spending more than two-decade behind bars

In one of a kind capital punishment case in the US, an 83-year-old Alabama prisoner executed. It is a rare case because he is the oldest person to get capital punishment.

The prisoner named Walter Moody was convicted in a bombing case in 1989. He planted a bomb for killing US Circuit Court Judge Robert Vance and Georgia civil rights attorney Robert Robinson.

For more than 20 years he has been behind the bars. However, his lawyer and he haven’t appealed to halt the execution.

In 1991 he was given seven years life sentences in a district court in US for the deadly bombing series. But, later he was indicted on capital murder charges 1996.

He was pronounced dead at 8:42 PM in the US. He was given a lethal injection. He kept quiet and didn’t utter a single word, not even a last wish. Package bombing done by Moody was a revenge story on the legal system.

This execution has made Walter Moody the oldest person executed after 77-year-old John Nixon who was put to death in 2005.
