On Thursday, residents of Rockford, U.S. state of Illinois were given warning by Rockford's Better Business Bureau to not get into any scammer on National Puppy Day.

Last year, the BBB's Scam tracker found that online purchases are the biggest scam and amongst all the online business, pet business ranked number one.

The Rockford Regional Officer of the Better Business Bureau, Dennis Horton said, "Making a hasty decision to purchase a dog can make consumers more vulnerable to scammers."

He also added that scammers mostly target people's emotions. They look for occasions like buying a new puppy. But, if consumers aren't cautioned then it can lead to falling into the trap.
