Germany's largest airline Lufthansa on Tuesday has cancelled over 800 fights affecting more than 90,000 passengers. This cancellation has been called because of mass public sector strikes after discontent over pay among Europe workers spread to Germany.

Lufthansa warned that more than half of its scheduled flights on Tuesday will be cancelled, as airport staff prepares to go on strike as part of a nationwide public sector walkout.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Lufthansa said it "must cancel more than 800 of its planned 1,600 flights tomorrow, including 58 long-distance services, because of the strike."

National strike will be evident in major airports of Germany which includes Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne-Bonn and Bremen. Airport staff urged travellers to check with their airline ahead of departure as to whether their flights would go ahead. Even Lufthansa advised customers to change their flight date for free. Besides, can exchange their domestic flight tickets for train tickets.
