As part of an examination of foreign funding to the US President during the 2016 election, the special counsel Robert Muller subpoenaed Trump office this year for the record of business and foreign fundings. On Monday,  personal attorney of Trump Michael D. Cohen's office and hotel room have been raided and it seems to be in this connection.

As per the sources, the Special Counsel is trying to analyse a payment of $150,000 made by Ukraine-based-billionaire, Victor Pinchuk in September 2015 Trump J Foundation in exchange for a 20-minute appearance by President Trump.

Subpoena by the special counsel also ordered for documents and emails to several Russians. However, the payment made by Ukrainian billionaire Pinchuk is a curious transaction because it was made during the US election campaign which seems to be a token of foreign influence.

Ukrainian billionaire Pinchuk is the son-in-law Leonid Kuchma (Former president of Ukraine)  who was criticised for corruption, nepotism and the murder of dissident journalists.

Besides, Pinchuk has been in passes accused by steelmakers in the US of illegally dumping steel on the American market at artificially low prices.
