Woman stabs husband to death, shares FB posts before attempting suicide

In a gruesome incident, a woman took the life of her husband before attempting to take her own life.

According to India Today reports, the incident took place in Delhi’s Chhattarpur Extension area. The man has been succumbed to fatal injuries, while the woman was rushed to a hospital where her condition is said to be critical.

The woman identified as Renuka, who wrote a suicide note on Facebook before taking the drastic step. Reportedly, her FB post alerted her family and friends who tried calling the couple and later informed the landlord about the incident.

The matter was reported on Sunday at 4 pm when the couple’s landlord alerted the police about the suspicious activity at the couple’s place. Mehrauli police team rushed to the spot and found that the couple’s residence was locked from the inside. Hence, they broke the doors and found both the husband and the wife in an unconscious state.

Bloodstains could be seen on the walls and floor of the room.

An ambulance was summoned and the couple was rushed to the nearest hospital where the man was declared brought dead while the woman was under medical treatment.

The deceased was identified as Chirag Sharma (37), a resident of Haryana’s Yamuna Nagar while the woman, Renuka (36) hailed from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The duo worked in the same insurance company in a different department. They shifted to the home in Chhattarpur Extension after their love marriage in 2013, said DCP Atul Kumar.

According to a preliminary investigation, the couple had no children and often engaged in arguments over the same issue.

On Sunday, they had also indulged in a heated quarrel following which Chirag went to sleep in his room. Police officials believed that the woman used a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband more than a dozen times in a fit of rage. Police recovered the knife from the couple’s room.

The man has succumbed to injuries while the woman is currently being treated in the ICU at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and her condition is said to be critical.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
