Woman fails to loot bank, gets locked inside; incident caught on cam
A Meghalaya woman fell in trouble after her bank robbery plan got failed. The incident took place at Meghalaya Rural Bank in the Bishnupur area of Shillong on Monday.
The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Isabella Marboh.
According to timesnownews.com, the woman planned a robbery in the bank but got locked in the bank due to the successive bank holidays.
Marboh’s husband also launched a campaign on social media to look for his missing wife, according to a report in East Mojo.
According to police, the woman went missing from her house in New Kench’s Trace on June 25 morning.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) filed a case in this matter. However, police refused to comment whether the woman planned a robbery in the bank or not.
Police officials told that the probe is underway.
According to sources, the cash was found intact in the back, however, an attempt was made to loot the bank.
As per a report, the woman tried to break the lock of the strong room. Her act was also caught on CCTV installed in the bank. The video showed a woman was carrying a hammer and a saw and bag.
"When we tried to open the gates of the strong room, we couldn’t and had to call a carpenter. We then found the equipment," the report quoted the source as saying.
Police also found damaged CCTV cameras in the strong room. Reportedly, the woman was locked inside the bank since Friday and remained struck there due to consecutive holidays on Saturday (Fourth Saturday holiday) and Sunday.
Four CCTV cameras were also found damaged in the strong room. The woman had come to the bank armed with tools and some food to execute the supposed robbery.
On Monday, she was found inside the bank. However, the staff immediately closed the bank fearing she might escape from the spot, and alerted police about the matter.
