In a deplorable incident reported from Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district, an 18-year-old boy belonging to the Dalit community was allegedly beaten up by four men and urinated on after he objected to one of them hurling casteist slurs at him.

As per the police, the teenager and some of his relatives were fishing in a pond last Sunday. One of the accused, identified as Pradeep, who is a native of Thanikondan village, got into a heated argument with the teenager over some issue. During the argument, Pradeep used casteist remarks and thrashed the teenager when he objected.

Subsequently, Pradeep, along with his three friends, allegedly abducted the Dalit teen in a car. They took him to an isolated area, where they allegedly beat him and urinated on him. The teenager in some way broke free and saved his life. Following that, the teen was admitted in a government hospital for treatment and police were alerted, according to a report by The Times of India.

On the basis of the complaint registered by the victim, police filed a case against Pradeep and his three friends on Thursday. All of them have been booked under sections 365 (abduction), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 294 (b) (obscene act to insult), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2005.

Further investigations into the matter are going on.
