Rajasthan: 80-year-old woman beaten to death by grandson for Rs 20,000

A 80-year-old women was beaten to death by her grandson allegedly after she asked for Rs 20,000 he had borrowed from her, said police on Monday.

Jhamoribai Meena, a resident of Umerthuna village which falls under the jurisdiction of Bundi Sadar police station, was harshly beaten with a stick by Deepak Meena on Sunday night, Bundi Sadar Police Station Circle Inspector Shauqat Ali said.


She was taken to the Bundi district government hospital Monday morning where she succumbed to her injuries, he said.

The body was handed over to her family after autopsy, he added.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Deepak had borrowed Rs 20,000 from his grandmother through his elder uncle, he said.

Now she was asking the money she lent back which led to the incident, he said.

Deepak is absconding, Ali said, adding he has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder.
