Rajasthan: 15-year-old girl seeks CM Ashok Gehlot's help to get protection from child-marriage

A 15-year-old girl had to seek help from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to save herself from the social curse of underage marriage in Rajasthan.

According to an official statement from Rajasthan Chief Minister's office, the minor girl, who hails from Rajasthan's Tonk district reached at the CM's Jan Sunwai (Public grievance hearing meeting) on Monday to narrate her ordeal and seek his intervention to stop the cruelty that she was going to be subjected too.


The girl along with her uncle arrived at the Chief Minisater's residence and informed CM Gehlot that she was being forced by her father to get married.

The girl also stated that her mother had died and her father wants to get her married at this age itself.


The CM has enquired the girl about her future ambitions and assured her of the government's help in fulfilling her dreams. Chief Minister Gehlot issued an order for Tonk district collector and Police Chief take the necessary action for the protection of the girl.
