In a shocking incident reported from Mumbai, the Bandra police not long ago took three men and a juvenile into their custody for the alleged gangrape of a minor girl between 2019 and 2020.

The victim, who is now aged 18, got an FIR registered on 13th April following a video of her being sexually assaulted by the juvinile, then 17-years old, went rife on the internet. The victim has alleged that the accused were blackmailing her with the clip and eventually uploadeed it when the girl stopped complying with their demand.

The three accused, aged 20-22 years, live in the same neighbourhood as the victim. The complainant, who was aged 17 when she was allegedly raped, had recently got married.

The victim was first raped in 2019 by the 17-year-old boy. Another accused had recorded a video of the horrific incident. After this, the four accused kept blackmailing her with the video and gangraped her many times.

“When the complainant stopped giving into their demands, they circulated the one-minute video on a WhatsApp group. One of her relatives saw it and informed her parents. Confronted by her parents, she decided to approach the police,” said an officer. The FIR was lodged on 13th April under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Information Technology Act.

The same day, two accused and the minor was taken into police custody and was produced before a juvenile court and sent to an observation home.

The last arrest in the case was made on 18th April.
