Maharashtra: Husband murders wife after she refuses to give money for alcohol

In an appalling incident reported from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a man, who is apparently an alcoholic allegedly murdered his wife after she refused to give him money for purchasing liquor.

According to a senior investigating officers of Tulinj Police Station, the incident took place on 3rd March when the accused, identified as Rupesh Morey, attacked his 30-year-old wife first with a knife and then banged her head on an iron pipe.


After hearing the scream of the victim, identified as Vanita Morey, one of the neighbours Umesh Jadhav came to the spot and found her lying on the floor.

The neighbour (Jadhav) then notified the police which arrived at the criime spot. The dead body was then right away sent for autopsy.

A case has been lodged with the Tulinj Police Station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused and he was taken into custody on Thursday, according to the news agency ANI.
