A 32-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death after repeated argument with her over domestic issue in Thane district, police said on Monday.

The incident occured on Sunday after which the accused identified as Arvind Shekarwani, called up his uncle to inform that he had killed his wife Sapna Shekarwani (23) and that he was going to commit suicide, police inspector Manish Patil stated.

Arvind Shekarwani later exited from his house, situated in Shrirang area of Bhiwandi town.

Arvind Shekarwani allegedly strangulated his wife with a pillow in the presence of their two minor kids—a daughter aged five and an eight month old son, police said.

His uncle notified the police, who raced to the location and sent the body to a government hospital for autopsy.

Search operation was underway for the accused and a case was lodged against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302, senior police official said.

The couple used to get involved in regular arguments over domestic issue, he said, adding that an investigation was on to ascertain the actual ground behind the killing.
