Two men arrested for extorting money from women

On Wednesday a shocking incident came to light from Kolkata where two men were arrested for allegedly extorting money from 182 women after threatening to make their intimate video public. Apart from the two men from renowned business families, a cook employed by one of them was also arrested for involvement in the case.

As per police, after three months of investigation, they recovered videos of 182 women. On Wednesday all three accused were produced in a local court and sent to custody till Thursday. They were alleged on demanding Rs 10 lakh from each victim.

As per officials, both of them would enter into relationships with women and then they would record intimate moments.

While probing one of the accused’s laptop they recovered 182 folders, each with a video of different women. The videos date back to 2013. Last year, they joined hands with the cook who used to blackmail women if they didn't give them the money.

It was in last year in November when the victim filed the complaint against them and after tracing several calls and WhatsApp messages they arrested the two main accused.

“The interrogation of the two prime accused revealed that they would befriend women and call them to different locations where cameras seemed to have been pre-arranged to film intimate moments. They developed a data bank of these videos and began to extort money around a year ago. In one case, they decided to extort Rs 5 lakh from a girl by convincing Yadav to call her up. The victim initially paid up. But then they demanded Rs 10 lakh more, prompting her to approach the cyber cell,” an official involved in the investigation said.
