Forget your old Aadhaar Card, the new one to get a QR code system; RBI and Govt execute discussions

The Government along with the Central Bank are executing discussions for the implementation of new Aadhaar Card based system. The proposal to allow the use of ‘offline Aadhaar’, which is based solely on the use of the QR code system unlike the one it is following right now. Currently, the Aadhaar card is operating on the biometric eKYC system for opening bank accounts, operating payment wallets, and other areas.

The Supreme Court had recently ordered that Aadhaar Card is not mandatory for opening bank accounts. After this, discussion went ahead to start using the offline basis. Unique Identification Authority of India will not have any links from the offline basis. The print out QR code will be digitally signed by UIDAI, so this documentary will be as reliable as the Ration Card, Driving License and Voter ID. Also the passport office and the bank will get a lot of convenience through this action.


According to UIDAI, offline based Aadhaar card can be a new way of KYC. In addition to the person's name, photograph and address, other information remains confidential. Therefore, it can be an easy way to keep people's information safe.
