Controversial Vietnam's ‘bikini airline’ Vietjet Air is coming to India

From past few days, Vietnamese airline Vietjet Air was in controversy. The airlines is also known as ‘bikini airline’ and they are planning to start flight service in India soon. They flights service willl start in July 18 between Vietnam's capital Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi. The airline was founded by woman billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, she has several other properties including three beach resorts. Vietjet airline will operate four flights every week.

In 2012, the airline face controversary after it started to publish an annual calendar featuring bikini-clad models dressed as flight attendants, pilots as well as ground staff. The plan to start a Vietnamese flight in India was announced on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of India-Vietnam diplomatic relationship.

Vietjet airline was among one of the top 500 brands in Asia 2016 and it was awarded "The Best Asian Low Cost Carrier" at the TTG Travel Awards 2015.

At the TTG Travel Awards 2015, Vietjet was awarded "The Best Asian Low Cost Carrier" and was among top 500 brands in Asia 2016. According to a report in The Sun, the airline had been fined £678.20 for risking air safety by organising in-flight beauty pageant.

The company has seen tremendous growth since 2011, and in the latest quarter, reported pre-tax profit of 4.76 trillion dong($209.10 million) last year, up by a whopping 75.9 percent.The company has a fleet of 55 A320 and A321 aircraft, now operates 385 flights on 82 domestic and international routes, according to Reuters report.
