A 21-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) worker at the quarantine centre at New Bhoomi Park in Malad’s Janakalyan Nagar.

The police have arrested the accused for harassing the girl, from the quarantine centre on Monday, police said.

The accused has been identified as Amit Tatkare is a BMC contract labourer, confirmed the police.

According to the reports in timesnownews.com, the BMC labourer called the 21-year-old woman to the quarantine centre, and asked her to say ‘I love you’. However, the girl refused to say.

Meanwhile, the man has been arrested, Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Shinde told ANI.

The man allegedly called the woman to the quarantine centre claiming that she had been tested positive for COVID-19. On her arrival, the man misbehaved with her.

The girl approached the police and filed a complaint against the man.

However, the woman was tested negative for coronavirus.

"On the basis of the woman's complaint, Charkop police have registered a case against two accused under Section 354 of the IPC. One of the accused named Amit Tatkare has been arrested," Shinde added.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway to check whether the accused was involved or not, police said.
