Despite a limited release, Kung Fu Panda 3 managed to perform well at the Box Office as it raked in around Rs 10.10 crore in its opening weekend.

Distributed by Fox Star Studios, the film opened on 700 screens in India, majorly targeted towards multiplexes in metros and recorded the highest opening weekend for an animated film in India. As per data available, the previous two record holders were Kung Fu Panda 2 and Ice Age 4, which collected a reasonable Rs 5.50 crore and Rs 8.50 crore, respectively, in their opening weekend.

The weekend collection of Kung Fu Panda 3 is around 40 per cent more than the previous record holder, Ice Age 3. Though at face value, the collections seem to be low, considering the fact that animated films have a very limited market in India, the weekend numbers are good.
