French Champions PSG put one foot in the last 8 of the Champions League after a 2-1 first leg win over Chelsea in Paris on Tuesday.

The match promised to be an exciting contest between the two strikers, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa of PSG and Chelsea respectively even though the latter could not put the ball in the back of the net.

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring for PSG with a trademark low free kick which found the back of the net after getting a deflection off John Obi Mikel's trailing left leg.

However, Mikel himself restored parity for the visitors right before half time when he found the ball at his feet from a corner, before blasting it into the net and wheeling away in celebration.

However, it was PSG who had the last laugh as Edinson Cavani came off the bench in the second half and scored with a clever finish under the legs of the Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
