Stephen Constantine announces 25-member Indian squad for FIFA World Cup qualifier vs Guam

Indian national team head coach Stephen Constantine, on Sunday, 1 November, announced a 25-member squad for India's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guam on 12 November.

The English coach sprang a few surprises with his team selection, dropping some of the best players from last season's I-League and this season's Indian Super League, including Royal Wahingdoh star Jackichand Singh.

Debjit Majumder, Anas Edathodika, Israil Gurung and Mohammad Rafi were some of the other notable names missing from Constantine's list, while Francis Fernandes, Holicharan Narzary, Laxmikant Kattimani and Karanjit Singh were surprisingly included in the squad.

On the other hand, Romeo Fernandes, who played less than half an hour of competitive football this year, prior to the start of the Indian Super League season, was also included in the squad by Constantine.

The squad

Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Karanjit Singh and Laxmikant Kattimani.

Defenders: Arnab Mondal, Sandesh Jhingan, Aiborlang Khongjee, Lalchhuanmawia, Narayan Das, Pritam Kotal, Augistine Fernandes and Robin Gurung.

Midfielders: Eugenson Lyngdoh, Cavin Lobo, Sehnaj Singh, Pronoy Halder, Francis Fernandes, Rowlin Borges, Romeo Fernandes, Bikash Jairu and Harmanjot Singh Khabra.

Forwards: Jeje Lalpekhlua, Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri and Holicharan Narzary.
