Premier League: Mesut Ozil blasts his critics post Chelsea rout

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has slammed his side's critics after the Arsene Wenger-led club registered their maiden Premier League victory over Chelsea since 2011.

"Many so-called experts had already written us off after the second match day. But a Premier League season is long and we're currently improving from game to game," Ozil was quoted as saying by goal.com.

The goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Ozil saw Arsenal secure an impressive 3-0 win over Antonio Conte's side at Emirates Stadium 24 September.

Jubilant with the way Arsenal are improving, the 27-year-old called on his side to use their excellent performance against Chelsea as a springboard for the rest of the season.

"In the first half we played exactly the kind of football we want to play - quick combinations so that our opponents didn't even get the chance to tackle. All the more, we have proved now that this wasn't a one-off and we'll have to perform equally as well against Basel," Ozil said.

Arsenal, who are currently standing third in league table, will next lock horns with Burnley FC on October 2.
