Former AC Milan defender and coach of the Italian football team Cesare Maldini has died. He was 84.
Maldini won four Serie A titles with Milan and their first European Cup in 1963, as a player. He then managed the club between 1972-1974.
In 1996, he was appointed the coach of the Italian team which was skipped by his son Paolo. He also was instrumental in taking Paraguay to the 2002 World Cup.
In a condolence message,AC Milan tweeted: "Goodbye dear Cesare. Today the world loses a great man and we lose a page of our history."
