The NITI Aayog has been assigned to recommend measures for improvement in the regulatory framework of the UGC, informed the Minister of State (HRD), Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey in a written reply to a Rajya Sabha question on 24 November.
"The objectives of this task are to examine and improve the existing Higher Education regulatory framework in line with contemporary national and global requirements and to enhance the quality of Higher Education in India," stated the reply.
NITI Aayog along with Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the UGC were assigned the task of finalising a regulatory framework for setting up of 20 world-class institutions.
