Last date to apply for UGC-NET exam extended to 23 Nov

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the last date of application for University Grants Commission (UGC) - National Eligibility Test (NET) exam to 23 November, 2016. The decision has been taken in public interest, stated an official release.

The last date for fee submission has been extended to 24 November through e-challan/debit/credit card at designated branches of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC banks, it further added. Meanwhile, facility of correcting data (particulars) of applicants will be operational on the website cbsenet.nic.in from 28 November to 3 December.

CBSE conducts the UGC NET exam on UGC. The exam is scheduled to be held on 22 January 2017. On the basis of UGC NET scores, candidates are recruited for Assistant Professor or awarded Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities and colleges. The exam will be conducted 84 subjects at 90 selected NET examination cities spread across the country.

Meanwhile, results for UGC NET July 2016 are expected to be declared in this week. The results will be declared on cbsenet.nic.in. The exam was conducted on 10 July and 28 August at several test centres across the nation. Over 6 lakh candidates reportedly appeared for the tests.

UGC NET exam is administered twice a year for determining the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship or both.
