KVS Admission 2020: Alert! New guidelines for admissions amid COVID-19 pandemic; important deets inside

An important update for students who want to take admission in KVS amid coronavirus pandemic. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, or KVS has released revised guidelines for the KVS admission 2020 on its official website.

Therefore, students who are waiting for the KVS admission process should visit the website at kvsangathan.nic.in.


The guidelines are released for new and existing candidates.

According to the decision by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in December 2019, admission starting from 2020-21, 27 percent seats will be reserved for the Other Backward Classes (OBC).

As per the official information, admission for class 1 will be held through an online draw of lots. While admission to class 2 to 8 would be done on a priority basis. If in case, the application forms exceed the number of seats, then the lottery system would be followed.

While admissions to class 9 will be done on the basis of entrance examination and students aiming to take admission in class 11 will be done on the basis of their Class 10th marks.

According to the information brochure of KVS, admission of fresh students to Class 10 and Class 12 are subject to the availability of seats.

KVS Admission 2020: Important Details

KVS will give priority to children and grandchildren of working and retired government employees, defense personnel, during 2020-21 admission.

“15 percent seats for Scheduled Caste, 7.5 percent seats for Scheduled Tribes, and 27 percent seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) shall be reserved in all fresh admissions in all Kendriya Vidyalayas,” KVS new revised admission guidelines.

Also, “3 percent seats of total available seats for fresh admission will be horizontally reserved for Differently Abled-children as per the provisions of RTE Act, 2009,” the document adds.
KVS will fill the seats on the basis of seat availability. While the admission to Class 11 will be given within 20 days after the declaration of CBSE Class 10th results.

As per KVS, the registration forms will be made available free of cost by principals. The admission to class 1 will be done through the online admission portal when it gets live.
