IIM Ahmedabad graduates chasing jobs not entrepreneurship

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:47 IST

Instead of becoming 'job creating' entrepreneurs, graduates from Indian Management Institute (IIM) Ahmedabad, are choosing to take up jobs. Students of world's leading management institute do not like the road of entrepreneurship, it seems.

IIM Ahmedabad, is one of the few institutes in the country to have a devoted incubation centre and is encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. A quick look at data over the last few years revealed this change in pattern. Candidates wanting to start their business or become entrepreneurs has dropped in 2016 as compared to 2015.

Data Table

Figures are based on final placement report of Post Graduate Programme in Management, Post Graduate Programme in Executive and PGP in Agriculture Business Management.

Jobs Abroad

Jobs abroad continues to lure students at the premier business institute. In 2016 this attraction has increased compared to 2015. Of 383 PGP graduates looking for jobs in 2016, 15 have chosen jobs abroad while 368 have accepted jobs in the country. Of 361 this number in 2015 was 10.
