UGC to release revised guidelines for university, college semester exams; important deets to know

The University Grants Commission will soon release the revised guidelines for the new academic session or new semesters for the students across the country.

The new guidelines will be issued for the pending university and college semesters exams which were postponed due to the Coronavirus lockdown in the country.

Earlier, University Grants Commission released the revised guidelines for the Final Semesters exams which were supposed to be held in July 2020.

Due to the ongoing situation, the HRD Ministry directed UGC to release revised guidelines. As per the latest updates, UGC is expected to release the revised guidelines for the university semester exams 2020 very soon.

According to a report in ABP news, an expert committee has been appointed by the UGC under the leadership of Haryana vice-chancellor R C Kuhad, has recommended canceling all the pending final semester examination that was scheduled to be held across the country due to the skyrocketing coronavirus cases.

The committee is overviewing the current situation especially in major cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

In view of the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, UGC has been asked to revisit the guidelines and suggest alternative options.

As per media reports, UGC revised guidelines for Final Semester Exams 2020 is expected to release today, UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said.

Dr. Sharma, who also holds the portfolio for Education Ministry, told media that the final decision for conducting the semester exams 2020 for UP Universities will be taken on July 2nd.

However, there is no official statement has been released by UGC officials on releasing the guidelines today.
