In a latest development in the Shakur Basti demolition case, the post-mortem report of the child has revealed chest and head injuries as one of the reasons behind the death.

This development is likely to give Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal an edge over the Indian railways.

According to media reports, the post-mortem report also points out that the death occurred during demolition drive by the Railways following injuries due to some blunt object.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and Railways are at loggerheads over the issue. The AAP government have been blaming Railways for the demolition drive and child's death.

The revelation came after Railways minister Suresh Prabhu gave a statement in the Parliament today, claiming that the child died much before the encroachment drive began.

"The encroachments were a hurdle in the expansion of the Railways. Notices were sent and encroachers were adviced to vacate the land but they did not respond. The operation was peaceful," he had said.

Following the report, the Delhi Police has registered a case of death due to negligence in connection with the loss of life of a seven-month-old girl allegedly during the demolition of a slum cluster.
