Is pollution in Delhi adding to Arvind Kejriwal's ill health? CM may take a break after winter session

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal kept away from all his appointments on 26 November and the Delhi assembly session because of ill-health.

According to a Times of India report, Kejriwal said that he needs to take a break from active participation in meetings and the assembly session.

Kejriwal, who attends meditation sessions and vipassana to manage stress, may leave for a short stint of vipassana after the winter session concludes on 4 December.

The TOI reported that doctors who have tended to Kejriwal in the past say the Delhi CM - who suffers from chronic cough and diabetes - believes in alternative medicine.

He has travelled to all parts of the country to seek treatment for his chronic dry cough - he also went to Bengaluru in March this year to seek treatment.

According to a senior All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) doctor, coughing is only a symptom and could be caused by an allergic reaction, poor immunity or lung disease.

The doctor added that it is important to look at the problem thoroughly to reach a conclusion and that symptomatic treatment would not help Kejriwal in this case.

The alarming levels of pollution in Delhi may be to blame for Kejriwal's worsening health. We wish the CM a speedy recovery.
