Delhi man marries woman who accused him of rape, strangles her to death after 6 months

In one of the most shocking incident reported from Delhi, the city police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his wife who had earlier accused him of rape. Earlier, the man was accuused of rape by the victim and was put behind bars.

The accused, identified as Rajesh, a resident of the national capital. In December 2020, he married the woman after he was released from jail, the Hindustan Times reported.


In June 2020, the woman had complained that Rajesh had raped her on the pretext of marrying her. In line with her complaint a case was lodged and Rajesh was apprehended in August. However, he was released from the jail in October, after the woman took back the complaint saying she wanted to marry him. Following his release, the duo tied the knot in December, the NDTV reported.

The victim’s family has claimed that the accused (Rajesh) used to torment her and often picked up fights with her. The woman had gone back to her family, bur the accused persuaded her to return. He took her to his village in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district on 11th June on the pretext of checking on his mother. The victim's family said since then her phone was off.

The woman’s family then went to the police and registered a missing complaint in Dwarka police station on June 15.

The cops used her phone record to locate her. The last location was found to be near Hanumangarh temple in Nainital on June 12. Her husband's location was also the same as her’s.

According to the police, at first the accued denied any involvement in the crime, but later admitted to it. Police said he cited "harassment" by the victim and her mother as the reason behind the crime.

“About 13 km from Nainital, he expressed his desire to have a physical relationship with his wife at a secluded place. He took her to a cave. After having sex, he strangled his wife,” the police said as quoted by the Hindustan Times.

“A case has been lodged against Rajesh under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence),” police said.
