In a fresh development in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water tanker scam, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra has reportedly written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, asking them to initiate a CBI probe and file an FIR against former chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

While speaking in the Delhi Assembly on 13 June, Mishra said that he has sent a report along with the letter which includes a list of the persons involved in the alleged scam of Rs 400 crore.

In the letter, Mishra said that he had set up a committee to look into the water tanker distribution management system.

"A bare perusal of the (committee's) report indicates that the functionaries and members of the then DJB - including its then chairperson/hon'ble chief minister Sheila Dikshit - had indulged in grave irregularities. The report also suggests that the acts of omissions and commissions by the then DJB has resulted in the loss of approximately Rs 400 crore to the exchequer," the letter reads.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has asked Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta to request the LG and PM Modi to take action against previous Congress government in Delhi.

"If she (Sheila) does not go to jail in two months, you please resign and ask Modiji also to resign," Kejriwal reportedly Gupta.

The scam is related to the hiring of 385 stainless steel tankers in 2012. In August 2015, Mishra wrote to Kejriwal, asking that an FIR be filed against Dikshit.
