A 60-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for repeatedly raping a three-year-old girl in southeast Delhi's Amar Colony. The minor's mother came to know about the multiple rapes on Wednesday and lodged a case against the accused.

According to a report in Times of India, the three-year-old on Wednesday morning complained of pain in her private parts and told her mother that 'uncle' on the second floor used to call her to his house and sexually abuse her.

TOI quoted a senior police officer, "The girl's mother then informed her husband and the couple approached the police. A medical examination confirmed that the child was raped multiple times."

"An FIR under IPC Section 376 and POCSO Act was lodged at Amar Colony police station. The accused was arrested from his house," said a senior police officer.

The minor in her statement said the accused promised her sweets and chips and sexually abused her. "The girl will soon be counselled. We are now questioning the accused to know since when he had been raping the young girl," TOI quoted a senior police officer.
