A four-year-old girl died on 19 October after falling into a septic tank in north-west Delhi's Swaroop Nagar. The girl has been identified as Nandni, a resident of Kushak Gaon of Swaroop Nagar.

The minor fell into a septic tank near Sujan Singh International School when she was on her way back home with her mother. The locals pulled the mother out of the tank when she jumped in to save her daughter.

According to media reports, the family has alleged that the death of the girl was caused by a delay on the part of the police and rescue team. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Locals claim that the septic tank belongs to the school. Police officials said a case under section 306 and 304 (A) has been registered in the matter.

"The police will establish the accountability of the school administration as the septic tank belongs to the school. The school authorities will be questioned as to why the tank was left open," a senior police official told a national daily.
