Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Monday accused the Congress party of creating the non-performing asset (NPA) and bad loan mess.

While taking a dig at the Congress party, Shah reposted a now-deleted Twitter post of the Indian National Congress, highlighting a fraud carried out by the son-in-law of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder.

"Why delete this tweet highlighting the loot of @capt_amarinder's son-in-law. Congress has always been at the forefront of highlighting their own robberies such as the NPA mess, bad loans, the free hand they gave to Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi. #CongressLootsFarmers," he wrote

The Congress party's post was about an article published by the Jansatta newspaper on their website highlighting a scam by the Delhi-based Simbhaoli Sugars Limited allegedly looting the Oriental Bank of Commerce of Rs 109.08 Crore in 2009.

The bank had filed a case with the Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI), which then filed an FIR against the Chairman and Managing Director Gurmit Singh Mann and Deputy Managing Director of the company Gurpal Singh, who is also the son-in-law of Amarinder Singh.

The Oriental Bank of Commerce alleged that the accused took a loan of Rs 97.85 crore, which was declared fraud in 2015, and another corporate loan of Rs 110 crore, which was used to repay the previous loan.

Amarinder Singh had shifted his loyalties from the Bhartiya Janata Party to the Congress party earlier in February
