Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly responded to the controversy that media stirred yesterday. Ganguly’s comment on Sachin Tendulkar was taken and twisted by Indian media to suit their narrative. Ganguly expressed his anger on social media towards the Indian press.

Ganguly Tweeted, “A lot of people in the media is trying to put my statement against sachin s when I said “I want the World Cup”My response has got nothing to do with his statement, nor is my statement against his .. he is, has been and will be one of my best friends for last 25 years.”

Sachin Tendulkar also replied to Sourav Ganguly’s Tweet, where he said, “Never felt the need for you to justify. Strongly believe that all of us want what’s best for our nation.”

Sourav Ganguly was referring to his earlier comment where he reacted on what Sachin Tendulkar said about India-Pakistan World Cup clash. Ganguly said that, he would rather want the title than worrying about losing two points.

Sachin Tendulkar had said that he would “hate” to see India give away two points to Pakistan by not playing them in the World Cup as such a act would only help the arch-rivals in the mega event. India would forfeit the match points if they boycott Pakistan in the group stage.

Rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket is world famous and in this year’s World Cup they will clash against each other on June 16 at Old Trafford, Manchester. However, Indian fans and some former cricketers are not happy after 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a terrorist attack in Pulwama. They are urging BCCI to not play against Pakistan is World Cup.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy of 78 vehicles carrying 2,547 soldiers was attacked by a car bomb in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14. More than 40 CRPF jawans were killed and many others were injured. This is termed as the worst attack on Indian soldiers since 1989 insurgency started in the valley.

India and Pakistan are supposed to play their first match in World Cup after Asia Cup 2018. They will lock horns against each other on June 16 at Old Trafford in Manchester. The World Cup 2019 will start from May 30 in England and Wales. 10 teams will play in a round-robin format and each team plays matches against every other team and the top four team will qualify for the knock-out stages before lifting the coveted trophy on July 14.
