Rohit Sharma is arguably the best opener in the World right now, many a times he have played a key role in India’s win. The ‘Hitman’ top-scored for India with 77 ball 62 in the third ODI against New Zealand to help India clinch the five-match series by 3-0. During the knock, Rohit hit two sixes which helped him equal MS Dhoni’s six-hitting record for India in ODIs.

Former India captain MS Dhoni has hit 222 sixes in 337 ODIs, seven of which came while playing for Asia XI, which means Dhoni has hit 215 sixes for India in the 50-over format. During the third ODI, Rohit Sharma hit two sixes, of which the last one helped him equal Dhoni’s record for India.

MS Dhoni was rested for the third ODI as he was suffering from sore hamstring, hence he failed to add to his tally for India. Rohit and Dhoni (215 sixes) hold the top spot followed by Sachin Tendulkar (195 sixes), Sourav Ganguly (189 sixes) and Yuvraj Singh (153 sixes).

In the third ODI, Rohit Sharma also achieved another milestone, becoming 10th Indian to go past 10,000 List A runs. The Indian vice-captain became the fourth fastest to the landmark, achieving this feat in 260 innings after Virat Kohli (219), Sourav Ganguly (252) and Sachin Tendulkar (257).

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the fourth ODI against New Zealand as Virat Kohli has been rested after a hectic schedule. The fourth match will be played on January 31 at Seddon Park, Hamilton.
