RIP! Pakistan 'striking batsman' dies after a bouncer hit his head, PCB expresses grief

In a tragic incident for cricket fraternity, a Pakistani young player Zubir Ahmed has lost his life after a bouncer ball hit his head during a club match in Mardan, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Deplorably, the incident took place at the time when Pakistani nationals were observing Independence Day - August 14.


Zubir had played four List A matches and also represented the T20 team Quetta Bears.

Earlier, the news was surfaced online but later it was confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) via a tweet on Wednesday. "Tragic death of Zubair Ahmed is another reminder that safety gear i.e. helmet must be worn at all times. Our sympathies with Zubair’s family,” read the tweet.

The incident took place at the time when focus on player safety has been heightened since the death death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes.
