Prithvi Shaw makes statement with destructive double hundred in Ranji Trophy match against Baroda

Indian cricketing prodigy Prithvi Shaw took the floor on Wednesday as he knocked a lethal double century in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match against Baroda.

The 20-year-old added to his stock after scoring 66 runs in the first innings by knocking 202 off 179 deliveries, which included 19 fours and 7 maximums, to mark his achievement.


Shaw, who was handed a back-dated eight month ban for a doping violation on July by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had earlier announced his comeback by knocking a 33-balls half-centuryfor Mumbai against Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament last month.

The youngster had celebrated in a ‘bat does the talk’ manner after knocking his fifty and on Wednesday the the latter got emotional.

Mumbai had scored 431 runs in the first innings and declared at 409 for 4 in the second innings replaying to Baroda’s 307 on day 3 of the match.

Shaw started very well to mark is Test debut against the West Indies last year when he smashed a century on debut and scored another half century in the second Test. But after his doping fiasco, Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma have made the Test opening slot their own with sublime display in the home series against South Africa and West Indies.
