Pakistan batsman Abid Ali entered the elite list of batsmen who have knocked centuries in consecutive matches in his first two Test against Sri Lanks in Karachi on Saturday.

Abid rounded off his hundred with a sweep shot off Lasith Embuldeniya delivery for two runs to follow up his 109 in the first Test in Rawalpindi.

The century in the first Test had made the 32-year-old the first ever batsman ever to knock a century on both Test and ODI debuts.

Earlier, Abid knocked 112 runs in his first ODI international, against the Aussies in Dubai this year.

The 32-year-old went on to become the ninth batsmen and first ever Pakistan cricketer in the history of Test cricket to accomplish this landmark of successive century in their first two Tests.

Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin had knocked three centuries in his first three Tests after making his debut against England at home in 1984.

William Ponsford, Doug Walter and Greg Blewett of Australia, Sourav Ganguly and Rohit Sharma of Indian cricket team, Alvin Kallicharran of the Windies and Jimmy Neesham of New Zealand are the other cricketers to have accomplished this feat.
