South African cricketer Hashim Amla has denied media reports claiming that he had asked a female Indian reporter to change her outfit before an interview during the Proteas' recent tour to India.
Amla, a devout follower of Islam, was reported to have been annoyed by the dress worn by the female reporter, and had asked her to be 'appropriately dressed' if she wanted to interview him during the bilateral cricket series with India.
The reports of the same were carried by a host of media organisations in India.
However, on Saturday, 6 February, Amla took to Twitter to deny the claims, saying that he had the greatest respect for people of all faiths and culture.
