Shikhar Dhawan posted an emotional video after he was ruled out from India’s World Cup squad over thumb injury. Dhawan got many replies from cricketers and former players and amongst them was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter handle to respond to Shikhar Dhawan’s emotional video message and wished him a fast recovery. Narendra Modi wrote, “Dear @SDhawan25, no doubt the pitch will miss you but I hope you recover at the earliest so that you can once again be back on the field and contribute to more wins for the nation.”

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out from World Cup 2019 and Rishabh Pant will replace the left-handed opener. After the news came out Shikhar Dhawan took to his Twitter handle to post an emotional video where he thanked his fans for all the support and wished team India good luck for the rest of the tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan wrote, “I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I'm grateful for all the love & support from my team mates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!”

Dhawan fractured his thumb during India’s match against Australia after he was hit by a short ball off Nathan Coulter-Nile’s delivery.
