Mamata Banerjee, Sheikh Hasina to hold brief tete-a-tete on sidelines of India-Bangladesh test match

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are expected to hold a short tete-a-tete on the sidelines of the India vs Bangladesh Test match on Friday.

As per the sources in the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s office, both the leaders will be in attendance during the match and the felicitation rite.


"As of now there is no scheduled meeting. But there are chances of a brief one on one meeting between Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It can be described as a courtesy meeting," said an official in Bangladesh PMO.

Officials here in the chief minister’s office decline to make a statement on the matter. Sheikh Hasina and Mamata Banerjee share very genial connection and have mitual respect for each others, sources said.

“The Bangladesh premier will watch the day and night cricket test match between India and Bangladesh in Kolkata on Friday,” the ministry of external affairs said on Thursday.

India is facing Bangladesh in its very first day and night Test match, which will be played at the Eden Gardens stadium starting Friday.
