IPL Auction 2020: Pat Cummins shatters record for most expensive player, bought for Rs 15.50 crore

Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins on Thursday broke the record for the most expensive overseas buy in the IPL auction 2020 as Kolkata Knight Riders laid out a bumper Rs 15.50 crore for the latter.

Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore locked horns in a fierce bidding war for the Aussie before KKR outbid the two teams. Pat Cummins has scalped 32 wickets in 25 IPL matches with and an economy of just 6.


The Australian shattered the record of Ben Stokes, who was bought for 14.5 crore by Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.

Another big money buy was Proteas Chris Morris, who was bought for Rs 10 crore by RCB.

England’s World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan made huge money early on in the auction, he was bought by KKR for Rs 5.25 crore.

Aaron Finch was puschased by RCB for Rs 4.4 crore, while big hitting all-rounder Chris Lynn was bought for his base price of Rs 2 crore by Mumbai Indians

Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 3 crore, but Indian Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihara went unsold.
