IPL 2019 Auction Live: The biggest cricket fair in the world starts; Windies cricketers in limelight again

Shimron Hetmyer and Carlos Braithwaite is the most expensive players sold till now in the 2019 IPL auction being held at Jaipur, Hetmyer was purchased by Royal challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders took Braithwaite in their team. Yuvraj Singh left unsold, while Hanuma Vihari was sold for 2 crores to Delhi Capitals. The shock has come for the cricket lovers in the country after no team opted for Yuvraj who had a bad season last year.

Axar Patel who played for Kings XI Punjab last year was purchased by Delhi Capital for 5 crores this year. Naman Ojha with a base price of 75 lakhs and played for Delhi in 2018 was unsold while Johnny Bairstow was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 2.2 crores. West Indies star Nicholas Puran is sold to Kings XI Punjab for 4.2 crores.


Varun Chakravarthy the mystry spinner from Tamil Nadu was sold to Kings XI Punjab for a whopping 8.4 crores.

Hugh Edmeades has over 30 years of experience of conducting auctions all over the world starting from 1984, he replaced Richard Madley as the gavel master. Indian Premier League released a new video of Hugh welcoming everyone to the auctions in Jaipur. This year’s IPL auction has been shifted to Jaipur from Bengaluru. The auction will start from 3 pm and will go on till 9 pm.

The outgoing IPL auctioneer Richard Madley in a sad tweet said, “Thank You for your kind wishes following the news that I am to be replaced as the Indian Premier League auctioneer, To be clear this was not my decision. I was not invited to conduct IPL auction by BCCI, In cricket terms I have been.”
