Kohli has been struggling a lot with his and his team's performance in the IPL season 11. RCB were restricted to a total of 198 for six. "Our thinking today was that the pitch is going to behave slower, but we were surprised because the ball came on to the bat nicely in first innings. We did not think that it was going to be a 200-plus run wicket, but it happened. That's T20 for you," Kohli said after the match.

Kohli has admitted that RCB read the pitch wrong and expected the pitch to be bowling friendly and were trumped by the batting paradise that the pitch was. Speaking of the partnership between Mandeep Singh and Washington Sundar, Kohli said: "It was an outstanding effort by lower order batsmen because it gives confidence to the team if the top-order fails."

Virat Kohli also praised the innings by Sanju Samson who hit 92 runs off 45 balls, Kohli underlined that players like him will ensure that the national team always has a talent pool.

"Batting first, worked in our favour. It was necessary for us to score maximum runs in the Powerplay, which we did. Towards the end, Sanju and Jos Buttler batted well. It was a tough ask for RCB to put brakes post 13th over," Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal said. He also said that he was proud of the fact that he dismissed Virat Kohli and Ab De Villiers.
