India vs South Africa: Rain plays spoilsport, washes out Day 2 in Bangalore

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 13 February 2017, 8:53 IST

After a dominating performance on the first day, India were denied an opportunity to continue their onslaught after rain washed out the second day of play at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on 15 November.

Lunch break was taken on day two of the second cricket Test between India and South Africa without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield and consistent rain.

The play looked set to begin at 10:30 a.m. but five minutes before the rescheduled start time, skies opened up again, forcing covering of the pitch.

As the time passed, it was no more just drizzle as heavy downpour started to lash the M Chinnaswamy ground.

Puddles of water were formed and umpires were left with no choice to but take lunch at 12:30 p.m.

Replying to South Africa's 214 all out, India had ended the day one at 80 for no loss.

Shikhar Dhawan (45*) and Murali Vijay (28*) will resume India's first innings.

Brief Scores

South Africa 1st Innings: 214

India 1st Innings: 80/0 in 22 overs (Shikhar Dhawan on strike)
