Happy Birthday 'Rawalpindi Express' Shoaib Akhtar: The man who made Sachin, Ponting, Lara and Ganguly shiver down their spine with his pace

The former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar was born on 13 August 1975 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. He made his Test debut in November 1997 against West Indies and played his last Test match against India at Bengaluru in year 2007.

The man who made Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara and Sourav Ganguly shiver down their spine with his pace. He  bowled with the speed Of 161.3 km/h in the history of cricket.


Shoaib Akhtar consider considered as the fastest bowler in the history of cricket.Unfortunately 'Rawalpindi Express' played his first One Day International three months later.

In his 163 ODIs games Akhtar scalped 247 wickets. He played 46 games in Test, scalped 178 wickets.

ICC took to twitter and wrote- “He’s regarded as the fastest bowler of all time, reaching a top speed of 161.3kmph, and claimed 444 international wickets. Happy birthday to the Rawalpindi Express, @shoaib100mph!”

Wishing Akhtar on his birthday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote: “n 224 appearances for Pakistan, this speedster picked 444 wickets with 16 five-wicket hauls 30 @cricketworldcup wickets. He delivered the fastest ball officially recorded at a speed of 161.3 km/h. Happy Birthday to the #RawalpindiExpress, @shoaib100mph
