Former Indian Opener Gautam Gambhir is still considered as India's one of the best opener. Gautam turned 36 today, he was born on 14 October 1981 in Delhi. Here are some interesting facts about birthday boy Gautam Gambhir.

1- Gautam Gambhir belongs to a business class family. The cricketer did not go into business line because he wanted to play for Indian cricket team. He starts playing cricket at the age of 10.

2- Gambhir made his international debuted for Team India at the age of 22. He started his cricket career in the one-day match against Bangladesh in 2003. And he made his Test match debut against Australia in 2004.

3- Gambhir has played many memorable innings for India and has registered many records in his name. He had led Indian team in winning matches at the poor condition. Gautam Gambhir is one of only Indian and four international cricketers who have scored hundreds in five consecutive Test matches. He is the only Indian batsman to score more than 300 runs in four consecutive Test series

4- Gambhir batted brilliantly in the final of the two World Cup finals. The reason behind India's victory in the first T-20 World Cup in South Africa was due to Gautam Gambhir's batting. He made 3 half-centuries in that tournament. He played superb innings of 75 runs against Pakistan in the final. Apart from this, he also played the biggest innings against Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup final. In this match, he played an excellent inning of 97 runs and Team India took possession of the World Cup.
